Derrick Foard is passionate about advocating for his clients and enjoys the relationships he is able to develop through his practice.
The first lawyer in his family, Derrick discovered his passion for law while participating in a teen court in high school; he excitedly followed this passion by attending Campbell University School of law after graduating from North Carolina A&T State University with honors.
While at Campbell, Derrick participated in school-wide moot court competitions and the Blanchard Community Law Clinic. The clinic partners with non-profit agencies in the Raleigh area to assist clients with their legal issues. Derrick was responsible for restoring clients’ driver’s license privileges. The satisfaction he felt helping people solve their legal problems confirmed he was pursuing the right career path. At graduation, he was one of six students to receive the North Carolina Advocates for Justice Award in recognition of his commitment to public service.
Prior to joining the firm, Derrick completed internships at the Duke Energy Office of General Counsel and the Charlotte Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. These internships allowed Derrick to refine his mediation and deposition skills which allow him to help structure creative settlements for his clients.
A Concord native, Derrick is excited to have the opportunity to practice in the Charlotte area. Derrick is a huge sports fan and in his free time, you will regularly find him cheering for the North Carolina A&T Aggies football team and the North Carolina Tar Heel basketball team while exploring new local breweries. The perfect Sunday for Derrick starts with attending church with family and ends by cheering the Carolina Panthers to victory!
