Marilyn L. Fuller
Attorney at Law
Just before starting her senior year at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Marilyn Fuller took a job in healthcare at Cone Health. The healthcare industry’s complex issues, laws and regulations, coupled with Marilyn’s desire to make a positive and meaningful impact on her community led her to pursue a law degree.
“I saw law school as a natural transition and an extension of my experience at Cone,” she says. “I believe being an attorney is a privilege that comes with a great amount of power and responsibility. I want to use that power in a way that will have a positive impact on my clients and my community.”
Marilyn is an attorney in Hedrick Gardner’s Charlotte office, where she practices in the firm’s workers’ compensation area. In addition to her Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, she holds a Masters of Public Administration from High Point University. She earned her Juris Doctor degree at Thomas M. Cooley, graduating cum laude.
While in law school, she held an internship with the Thomas M. Cooley Innocence Project. She also served as an associate editor of the Thomas M. Cooley Journal of Practical and Clinical Law, executive board member of Moot Court and vice president of Next Door Neighbors, a student organization focused on community service. In 2013, she was inducted into the National Order of Scribes, an honorary organization that recognizes graduating law students who excel in legal writing. She developed a passion for litigation as an extern in the Litigation Section of the Michigan Department of Attorney General Corrections Division. She has been volunteering with Legal Aid of North Carolina’s Lawyer on the Line program since 2014. Raised in Leasburg, N.C., Marilyn is the first person in her immediate family to earn a bachelor’s, master’s, and law degree. When she’s not helping people through her pro bono work or advocating for her clients, she enjoys spending time hiking close to nature in the North Carolina Mountains, practicing Yoga, and Pilates. She also enjoys reading novels and rather than savor the stories on a mobile device, she prefers to turn real pages.
