Biography

I have been handling workers’ compensation claims for 35 years. I have worked with countless attorneys during that time and have come to appreciate the importance of having quality legal representation. To me, that means not only someone who is very knowledgeable of the legal issues, but perhaps just as important, is having someone who is readily available and accessible, to not only help with the big problems but to give advice and direction on cases they are not even handling (yet).

Justin Robertson has proven to be that type of attorney, time and time again. Justin is an extremely talented attorney who cares a great deal about his clients and to me, that means a lot.

Senior Claims Representative, Allied Claims

Justin Robertson serves as the managing partner of Hedrick Gardner’s Wilmington office.  His practice focuses in the area of workers’ compensation.  He regularly represents employers, self-insureds, third party administrators and carriers; and handles every aspect of the workers’ compensation process from mediations, to hearings, and through the North Carolina appellate process.  His experience includes defending occupational disease claims, death claims, and injury by accident claims before the North Carolina Industrial Commission, and the North Carolina Court of Appeals. He also assists employers in developing workplace practices and policies to insure compliance with the Workers’ Compensation Act.

Justin frequently provides on-location training for employers on workplace policies for compliance with the North Carolina Workers’ Compensation Act, as well as continuing education and training to adjusters on best practices for claims handling and adherence to the North Carolina Workers’ Compensation Act and Industrial Commission Rules.

Justin is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, North Carolina Bar Association and New Hanover County Bar Association.  As an active member of the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys, he served as Vice-Chair and Chair of the Workers’ Compensation Practice Group from 2007 to 2009.

Justin’s clients include Allied Claims Administration, Sedgwick CMS, Gallagher Bassett Services, Erie Insurance, North Carolina Insurance Guaranty Association, Travelers, FirstComp Insurance Company, Hartford Insurance, Alternative Service Concepts, House of Raeford, New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Hedgehog Healthcare Associates, Reddy Ice, Starbucks, and Sears Holding Corporation.

Justin was selected to the North Carolina Rising Stars list, published nationwide in Super Lawyers Magazines®, in 2009 and 2010.  Each year, no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in NC are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor.
